Theory Test

This is designed to test your knowledge of the highway code and hazard perception skills.
You will need to pass this test first, in order to take the practical test. Once passed, you will receive a theory test certificate. Which is valid for two years. If your certificate expires, you will have to retake the test.

The Practical Driving Test

The driving test is designed to see if you can drive safely and independently. Also to know and demonstrate knowledge of the highway code whilst driving.
You will need both parts of your provisional driving licence and a valid theory test certificate when you attend the practical test. It is a good idea to bring your test confirmation letter.

Eyesight

You will be asked to read a number plate from a specified distance. If you fail this test the test will not continue. If you need glasses or contact lenses, remember to wear them!

Show me/Tell me Questions

You will be asked to show or tell the examiner an understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks. The car will be checked by the examiner to ensure it is in roadworthy condition and legal.

Pass Plus & Pass Plus Extra

Pass plus is a six hour course covering areas you wouldn‘t normally encounter on your driving test. The purpose of pass plus is to provide extra training to make you a safer driver. As reward for this course, many insurance companies may offer a discount on your premium.
Pass plus extra is a county council led scheme. You will have to attend a two hour interactive workshop to receive a subsidy on the course cost.(Subsidy is subject to budget and availability).
